WEISS/MANFREDI TEAM IS SELECTED TO CREATE A VISION FOR "PORTAL TO THE POINT": A DESIGN IDEAS EXPLORATION FOR THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH
Weiss/Manfredi is leading one of five teams selected by a distinguished jury to participate in the "Portal to the Point" design ideas exploration for Point State Park in Pittsburgh. The goal of the exploration is to reimagine the most visible landmark of the city and reconsider the nature of public art and design of this important cultural destination for the City of Pittsburgh.
Weiss/Manfredi's multi-disciplinary team includes artist Mark Dion, urban ecologist Steven Handel, and civil and structural engineers Magnusson Klemencic Associates. A public exhibition at the Carnegie Museum, a symposium, and a publication will document this design process and be made available for public viewing this fall. The exhibition will travel to other venues.
