Located on a verdant estate, the new International Retreat will create a meeting place for organizations to discuss global justice, international relations and human rights. This design creates a layered set of relationships between renovated existing buildings, new construction, and new gardens, eliminating clear boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. Envisioned as a courtyard landscape, this new setting will provide a year round retreat to promote international peace. The center contains spaces for meeting, dining and sleeping, and an exhibition and library wing will house selected works of art, historic correspondence, and books.
