Hunter's Point South Waterfront Park Is "Designed for Disaster"

Hunter's Point South Waterfront Park has been profiled in The New York Times for its fortitude through Hurricane Sandy.

Located along the East River in Queens, Hunter's Point South is envisioned as an international model of urban ecology and a world laboratory for innovative sustainable thinking. The New York Times' David Dunlap says, "Welcome to the new world of civic design, in which projects bend so that they will not break." The park is designed for resiliency – transforming a post-industrial armored waterfront into a soft shoreline – the park provides a first line of defense for the surrounding community, which sat four feet underwater a year ago during Hurricane Sandy.
