Marshall Family Performing Arts Center Featured in Architect's Newspaper

Architect's Newspaper recently featured the Marshall Family Performing Arts Center in an article that highlights the building's innovative approach to Texas' high temperatures—an ice cooling system.

Reporter Jason Sayer states, "Thermal regulation for the performing arts center...requires careful planning. Each space has its own schedule and has to be calibrated, with adjustments made in advance."

The performing arts center incorporates many sustainable features. The building's orientation and insulated fritted glazing minimize solar heat gain and maximize natural illumination in the dance/choral rehearsal space and lobby. The landscape design incorporates native and adaptive plantings and the roof's topography is shaped to divert rainwater into a series of planted catch basins.
