Kent State Celebrates Grand Opening of the Center for Architecture and Environmental Design

The grand opening of Kent State's Center for Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) was celebrated by over 1,000 attendees and featured talks by design partners Michael A. Manfredi and Marion Weiss, as well as the project architects.

CAED Dean Mark Mistur stated, "Studying in this building for four years will provide students with a slow infusion; a saturation of senses that will become a part of each student's design sensibility and standard of reference."

The 117,000-square-foot Kent State CAED, awarded following an international competition, establishes a beacon signaling the college's creative, research-based programs. An expansive, 650-seat studio loft forms the heart of the program. In addition, the building includes a multi-purpose lecture hall, library, cafe, gallery, studio critique spaces, classrooms, offices, and fabrication labs.
