Kent CAED Named One of 20 Buildings "That Will Define 2016 in Architecture"

The new Kent State Center for Architecture and Environmental Design (CAED) in Kent, Ohio is featured in several "best of 2016" international architecture roundups.

Surface Magazine editor William Hanley states, "Designing a building for an architecture school means taking on not only the usual considerations of site and program, but also the self-conscious task of delivering a facility that will embody architecture as a discipline. Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi met that challenge..."

Steven Litt, architecture critic for The Plain Dealer, names the building one of the top ten architecture and planning stories from 2016: "...the school appears poised to raise its profile and its ability to attract students who want to learn inside a building that shows how good design can be done."

Archinect's "Most Attention-Grabbing Projects of 2016" includes the CAED in a list of twenty-one projects alongside Snohetta's SFMOMA expansion, Zaha Hadid's Port House in Antwerp, and Herzog & De Meuron's Schaudepot at the Vitra Campus.
