Weiss/Manfredi Honored With National Design Award for Architecture at the 2018 Cooper Hewitt Gala

On Thursday night, WEISS/MANFREDI co-founders Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi were honored at Cooper Hewitt's National Design Awards Gala with the prestigious National Design Award for Architecture. The National Design Awards celebrate excellence and innovation across design, and recognize designers whose work enhances our quality of life. Awarded to an American firm each year to honor significant achievement in design, the program asserts design's role as a vital tool in shaping the world, and aims to increase national awareness of its impact through education initiatives.

WEISS/MANFREDI was introduced by Barry Bergdoll, Curator of Architecture and Design at MoMA and Professor of Art History at Columbia University, who profiled the firm in Casabella earlier this year, writing: "Their projects are at once exemplary in the sheer variety of bespoke solutions as in the extent to which each speaks a common language, displays a consistency of approach and engages an unflagging level of commitment...Weiss/Manfredi have blurred divisions between working with nature and embracing engineering to craft the public realm."
