Hunter's Point South Waterfront Park Awarded AIA Regional & Urban Design Award

Hunter's Point South Waterfront Park has been awarded a 2020 AIA Regional and Urban Design Award. The award "recognizes the best in urban design, regional and city planning, and community development. The best planning accounts for the entire built environment, local culture, and available resources—modeling architecture's promise and true value to communities."

The jury, made up of AIA members of whom one is a public official, recognized Hunter's Point South along with three other projects. The jury commented that the project is an "amazing evolution of the site. Smart landscape design to address sea level rise and storm surge. Elegant softening of the rivers edge. This project raises the bar for the future adjacent housing development." Another recipient of the award was Skidmore, Owings & Merrill for the Cornell Tech Campus Framework Plan, which includes the WEISS/MANFREDI designed Tata Innovation Center.
