Weiss/Manfredi Indian Institute of Architects Lecture
Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi of WEISS/MANFREDI Architects will deliver a lecture on resiliency in architecture for the 2020 Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) National Convention. With over 3,000 architects across India expected to attend, the convention and lecture will be held online to conform with COVID-19 precautions. The IIA National Convention, held every year, centers its lectures and dialogue around a central theme. This year's theme, "Transcend," places urgency on the industry to help solve the world's most pressing issues. Weiss and Manfredi's work transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries to create public space that is more ecologically and socially resilient. WEISS/MANFREDI will bring this ethos to India with the re-envisioning of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, which will begin construction later this year.
The convention will be held from 9am - 8pm (Asia/Kolkata time zone) on the 11th and 12th. Speakers include Rahul Mehrotra, founder and principal of architecture firm RMA Architects of Mumbai + Boston, and professor of urban design and planning and chair of the department of urban planning and design at Harvard Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Sonam Wangchuk, an Indian engineer, innovator and education reformist and founding-director of the Students' Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh; and Moshe Safdie CC FAIA FRAIC, an Israeli-Canadian architect, urban designer, educator, theorist, and author.
