WEISS/MANFREDI win the 2024 Louis I. Kahn Award

On Wednesday, April 3, Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi accepted the 2024 Louis I. Kahn Award as presented by DesignPhiladelphia and delivered a lecture as part of the ceremony. Held in the historic Harrison Rotunda at the Penn Museum, the lecture, which was titled "Projects and Provocations," was a celebratory journey of various projects throughout WEISS/MANFREDI's tenure and the ways that architecture may strengthen resilience, sustainability, and the human experience.

The annual award celebrates the spirit and memory of the late Philadelphia-based Louis I. Kahn, who is considered to be the most influential Modernist architect, and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of architecture. The event also doubles as a fundraiser for DesignPhiladelphia's education outreach initiative, which grants K-12 students attending Philadelphia public schools access to free design education programs. Previous recipients of the award include Herzog & de Meuron, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Bjarke Ingels, César Pelli, among many others.
