Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center Wins 2012 Architect Annual Design Review Award

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center has received a 2012 Annual Design Review Award from Architect Magazine. Of the winners, juror Mark Yoes notes "they're just very clear statements about what their relationship is to their surroundings." The award citation recognizes the Visitor Center as "a thoughtful threshold" to the garden, and recognizes that "the sinuous form is a direct reaction to the site [as] to have as minimal an effect on the existing plantings as possible, as well as to reinforce connections to existing pathways." The winners were chosen from projects that were completed in the past year and are either located in the United States or designed by firms with offices in the United States. The Visitor Center, which opened in May 2012, was winner in the Bond category for institutional projects in the public realm.

The winners of the Annual Design Review are published in the December 2012 issue of Architect Magazine. To read the article in full, click here.
