Weiss/Manfredi Featured in CLOG: National Mall

Weiss/Manfredi & Olin's competition-winning design for the Sylvan Theater at the Washington Monument Grounds is featured in the newest edition of CLOG, which examines the public and symbolic spaces on the National Mall. The publication explores the history of more than two centuries of plans for the Mall and examines current ongoing projects within the Monumental core, including the recent competition sponsored by the Trust for the National Mall. Marion Weiss and Michael Manfredi sat down with CLOG Editor Kyle May to discuss the primary considerations in developing their design for the Washington Monument Grounds at Sylvan Theater: "For the Sylvan Theater, there was the possibility of leveraging the natural topography of the mound for the theater with a reciprocal topography that could return the gaze of the audience back to the nearby Washington Monument, thereby blocking rows of tour buses from views of the monument outward."

CLOG: National Mall was recently launched at MoMA PS1 and will be the focus of a discussion at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. this spring.
