White Cube, Green Maze Exhibition Opens at Yale University School of Architecture

WEISS/MANFREDI's Seattle Art Museum: Olympic Sculpture Park is featured in the exhibition White Cube, Green Maze: New Art Landscapes. The exhibition opens today at the Yale School of Architecture Gallery.

The exhibition features original process drawings by Michael Manfredi and Marion Weiss and two large-scale conceptual models of the Sculpture Park conveying its unique reciprocity of landform and art. Newly commissioned photographs of the park by Dutch photographer Iwan Baan present the simultaneous impact of art, infrastructure, landscape, and urban life.

White Cube, Green Maze presents six innovative art landscapes dedicated to the experience of culture and nature; it endeavors to explore the possibilities of art sites emerging from collaborations across a range of artistic and architectural approaches. These projects distance themselves from traditional, monolithic, "white cube" gallery spaces and fuse inventive architecture and landscape design with radical conceptual and installation art. Curated by Raymund Ryan, the exhibition originally opened in fall 2012 at the Carnegie Museum of Art and will remain on view at Yale through April 2013.

An accompanying book by Ryan features critical essays, a survey of each site, and photography by Iwan Baan. For further information on White Cube, Green Maze, visit the exhibition website, or to order the exhibition publication, click here.
