Memorial Conversations at the University of Pennsylvania

Marion Weiss will participate in a conversation about the design and making of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park designed by Louis I. Kahn. This topic invites a dialogue about the nature of memorial and public space, site and memory, permanence and projected meaning. The evolving character of the contemporary memorial has been a focus of recent WEISS/MANFREDI work including the Sylvan Theater at the Washington Monument Grounds, a design collaboration with OLIN, and the Women's Memorial and Education Center, a competition-winning design that initiated our practice.

"Four Freedoms: Kahn's Contemporary Design" is a conversation between Michael Kimmelman, the Architecture Critic for The New York Times, Marion Weiss, Laurie Olin, and Dean Marilyn Jordan Taylor. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 13th at 6 p.m.
